| Broadwater Creek 2nd descent |
2010 wet season is upon us. While the rivers and creeks have been up and down, there has been some great opportunities to get amongst some great paddles. After hearing the stories and seeing the pictures of Broadwater Creek, it was top of the list for must do paddles this year. Woodsy called me to say it was on and I was in. The level was the same as last year was so it was on.
The plan was sam as last year. get up at 4.00 am, drive down, Helli in on Saturday morning, 1 solid day paddling Saturday and a couple of hours on Sunday would see us out. I'm not too sure what went wrong with the plan, I think the car shuttle took longer than last year, and we had 10 yakers to fly in, where last year there was only 6, but we didn't get paddling till around 11.00am
Once we were on the water, the group split into 2 groups. 5 guys headed upstream to run a couple of slides they saw from the chopper, while the rest of us headed down stream. We figured there would be enough slides and waterfalls to fill our quoter over the next 16km's. The 1st few hundred meters was a nice warm up before the drops started. "Drop" became the word of the weekend. Every time someone jumped out to scout, we would ask, "whats it like? The reply became predictable, "A Drop" It was either a drop or a slide |
