1st Full Moon Night Paddle for 2009
We only had 5 starters for the 1st full moon paddle for 2009. Mind you, there wasn't much of a moon to speak of and probably put a few people off. It turned out to be a perfect night and trouble free.
A good 60 megs of water to keep most of those pesty rocks under water.
Dom, Josh, Banjo, Jordic and Myself got going at about 7.30 and enjoyed a slight glow in the clouds to give us some direction.
After a bit of time in the top pool waiting for Dom to get his glow stick sorted, our eyes had a bit of time to adjust to the dark, or should I say the "light deficient situation".
With every one glow stick'd up, we headed off. At the 1st rapid, Jordic saddled upto me and asked if "I could see where I was going?" although I wear glasses normally, I could see OK in the dark on the river. Jordic apparently could not. He said he could only make out some larger rocks and could only see the white foam, but just a blur of white with no detail. So, he basically followed our glow sticks down every rapid and sat just inch's behind my kayak through most rapids. It was quite an interesting run, especially for Jordic I'm sure.

It just goes to show. We don't need much of a moon to paddle with and if you know the river well enough you can do it blind as well.

Some photos to come when Josh drops them around for me.
